The academic programmes of Bruges and Natolin offer students well-rounded postgraduate training for their professional futures in Europe. The ‘Bruges Formula’ has been perfected over the past fifty years and is applied on both campuses of the College.

Academic Programme
Academic Calendar

It provides students with a highly specialised knowledge in the European dimension of their field of studies together with a deepened understanding of Europe in all its complexity. By working together in a truly European community of students, professors and staff from all corners of Europe, students experience at first hand diverse teaching methods and innovative teamwork exercises.

The programme, which lasts one academic year from mid-September to the end of June, is taught through English and French, and includes lectures, research seminars, simulation exercises, weekend workshops and meetings with invited specialists. The methodology combines knowledge, understanding and critical analysis with a range of communication and interpersonal skills designed to prepare College of Europe graduates for the challenges they will face in their professional careers. The active participation of students and a thorough preparation of courses is required.

To be awarded the "Masters Degree of European Studies" students must pass oral and written examinations at the end of each semester and submit a Masters Thesis in English or French. This is the product of individual research, mainly conducted in the second term under the supervision and guidance of a professor.

Bruges

In Bruges, the progamme is built around three departments of European studies: Law, Economics, Political and Administrative Sciences. To ensure a high level of specialised training, students enroll in one of them benefitting their previous studies. Furthermore, students from all departments participate in the ‘European General and Interdisciplinary Studies Programme’ "Changing European Societies" from the academic year 2002-2003 onwards to help them understand the process of European integration in all its complexity.

Natolin

In Natolin, the European Studies Programme offers an interdisciplinary academic approach for graduates who wish to develop or deepen their understanding of the legal, economic and political aspects of the enlargement and transformation processes underway in Central and Eastern European economies, societies and politics.

BEEGS - Baltic and East European Graduate School

The Baltic and East European Graduate School started in 2000 at the Central Campus of Södertörns högskola (University College).

The Graduate School was created in order to bridge a perceived gap of knowledge between the Scandinavian countries and countries and cultures around the Baltic Sea and its environment. The school serves to re-integrate the experience of these countries and cultures into the corpus of humanities and social sciences.

Financing for the school comes from a grant from the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies (Östersjöstiftelsen). The school is run in co-operation with Stockholm University and other Swedish universities. Applicants can come from any countries. All PhD candidates receive a salary, office space and other sources for a period of four to five years.

The yearly intake of new doctoral students is about 10-12. Usually there are also several guest researchers with stipends from external sources. Starting in 2004 IBEES (Institute for Baltic and East European Studies) will start its activities with two guest professors each term.

Re: Bursa per shqiptaret

There is an interesting scholarship opportunity for study at the Jagiellonian University one of the oldest in Europe (the university of Copernicus), which you might want to consider in a near future.

The Queen Jadwiga Fund was established to commemorate the historic deed accomplished by Queen Jadwiga, who bequeathed her entire private estate for the renewal of the University of Cracow, thereby laying the foundation for six centuries of continuing scholarship and academic teaching in the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. The Fund's aim is to provide Scholarships for academics and doctoral students from Central and Eastern Europe, the countries of the former Soviet Union, and the Balkans, who wish to conduct scholarly research in the City of Cracow. It is the Founders' intention in this way to launch a new opportunity for the furthering of close links and scholarly exchange between the academics in this part of Europe; and that Cracow and its University again be, as in former times, a centre for learning prominent for its academic authority in the East and South.

The Fund is managed by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University assisted by the Fund's Council, which consists of members elected from the community of senior academics from all the University's Faculties. The members of the Council also serve as its Admissions Board. The Fund's financial resources come from donations and gifts made by private persons and corporations. Our aim is to establish a basic capital resources bank which will enable the Fund to operate independently and flexibly irrespective of the sums and frequency of future contributions.

Our full Scholarships amount to monthly cash payments of 1,500 PLN for academics, plus free accommodation in one of the University's halls of residence in a double - occupancy room and basic medical care for the duration of Scholarship in Cracow. The duration for Scholarships is from one to six months, depending on the nature of the academic project a candidate presents.

Within 3 years of its activity the fund invited to Cracow more than 460 academics and students.

The competition for academic year 2003/2004 was effected and another 80 scholarships for scientists and doctoral students were granted. The scholarship holders will do their research in Kraków from October 2003 till June 2004.
The competition for the year 2004/2005 will be announced in spring 2004.

IF YOU WANT TO APPLY FOR THE DAAD SCHOLARSHIP YOU HAVE TO HURRY AND CONTACT THE GERMAN EMBASSY, BECAUSE THE DEADLINE FOR THE DAAD AWARDS IS NEXT WEEK.

Postuar me date 15 nentor, dmth deadline 25 nentor.

Many German institutions of higher education offer courses leading to an international degree (Bachelor, Master or Ph.D.) which are taught in English. Basic knowledge of German will however be helpful.

The range of study opportunities covers undergraduate degree courses and graduate/postgraduate courses.

Please choose your subject area:
http://www.daad.de/deutschland/en/2.2.4.html
Engineering Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Science, Agriculture and Forestry, Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Medicine, Public Health, Medical Engineering, Economics, Law, Social and Cultural Studies, Psychology, Humanities, Music, Art and Design
Development Co-operation,
Admission to courses
This site offers just an initial and first information on Bachelor-, Master-and Ph.D.-degree programmes. Detailed and more specific information on the admission requirements, application deadlines and formalities should be requested directly from the specified contact address at the respective institution. In Germany the individual institution of higher education holds
the authority for deciding on the acceptance and admission of applicants.

For admission to any of the undergraduate programmes an equivalent to the general higher education entrance qualification is required. To be admitted to any of the graduate programmes in general a Bachelor´s degree will be
required. For admission to any of the Ph.D.-programmes a Master´s degree is required. However in some cases additional requirements in a respective field might be valid.

Languages
For most courses good knowledge of English is mandatory and has to be proven by tests like the TOEFL. The information about the necessary score is given
in figures referring to the paper based test and the computer based test (i.e. 550/213). Although TOEFL may be named in most of the programme descriptions all institutions will accept equivalent tests which might be
more commonly used in certain areas of the world.

Knowledge of the German Language
While many courses do not require any prior knowledge of German, some (marked by D) do. All institutions offer German courses and will encourage participants to acquire a better knowledge of the German language and
culture during their course of studies in Germany.

Fees and money in general
Most of the degree programmes with the symbol F don't charge tuition fees as they receive subsidies by the German government. The courses without the symbol F in some cases charge tuition fees, because of their status as
private universities or because the courses represent an additional offer that has to be financed by the participants.

All German universities charge a small administrative fee (per semester) which in many cases includes a ticket for public transportation. It usually ranges between 25 and 100 Euro per semester. The exact amount can be requested at the universities.

Participants of the courses are expected to cover their living expenses from their own funds. As an average between 540 and 670 Euro should be available per month.
