I wanted to let the Frosina community know about a new organization headquartered in Tirana: “The
Association for Albanian Girls and Women” (AAGW) is a nonprofit humanitarian organization to
assist victims of human trafficking in Albania. It is estimated that there are more than 6,000
Albanian girls and women women who are or have been victims of illegal trafficking for the purpose
of prostitution, one third of whom are younger than eighteen. Our organization was founded by an
American women currently in Tirana, but all administration focuses on the victims helping each
other reclaim their lives. We are currently up on the web at http://www.aagw.org and are eager to
inform the Albanian-American community about AAGW. People wishing to help may read the victims'
stories, donate funds, or items, or purchase handicrafts made by the victims through our website.
I am also available to answer questions about AAGW; one of my college friends is the founder and I
am helping her with the US side of things. We will have a press release forthcoming. I also have
brochures available. This is a serious problem that desperately needs worldwide attention.
