U.S. ambassador to Albania headed for Iraq, newspaper says

TIRANA (ADB) - James Jeffrey, U.S. ambassador to Albania, will leave the country to become second in command at the new U.S. embassy in Baghdad, the Gazeta Shqiptare newspaper reported.

The newspaper said it will take six months for Albania to get a new U.S. ambassador, and Jeffrey's deputy will assume the ambassador's duties until then.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell apparently notified the Albanian prime minister in a phone call about the move.

Jeffrey's transfer might actually show the importance the United States had placed in Albania, because the U.S. embassy in Baghdad will be the country's largest and most important for the next few years.

John Negroponte, currently the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is poised to be-come the U.S. ambassador to Baghdad.

per mendimin tim eshte shume e vlefsheme.me pare duhej te kontrolloja shume faqe per te gjetur opinione te arenes nderkombetare per shqiperine,kurse tani mund te kursej kohe.
