Improving my English Language??

Improving my English Language

I was just wondering , how come Native English speakers could think Idea units , so fastly and effortlessly. Forget about fluency but the very idea of flashing some brilliant answers and replies are all really nerve racking. How come one get to this point ?. Last week , when i was having a conversation with a English friend of mine, i got totally embarrassed when he was crossing me with some comment , and i found it totally unable to reply to him. What's the point spending hours reading English words and phrases when one can't use it in real conversation ?.

Can u really recollect the tons of words and phrases you have learnt ,when you are in a real conversation?. Why don't i remember any of those new words i have learnt. When someone is asking me what's the meaning of "going overboard" , i could in a flash of time , would answer it . But the same phrase isn't striking my mind when i am on a conversation . Is this happening only to me??

Mua me ndodh shume here bile dhe me e forta eshte qe me ndodh me te dyja gjuhet. Ka raste qe nuk mund te kujtoj fjale/shprehje shqip...dhe ka raste qe fjalet me te thjeshta anglisht nuk me vin ne mend per momentin.

Nuk kam arritur akoma ti gjej shpjegim, por kam kuptuar qe ka te beje shume me "atmosferen" e muhabetit..per mua te pakten.

Me duket sikur ne tru kam nje perkthys...qe nganjehere pushon se punuari /pf/images/graemlins/blush.gif /pf/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bija e Neptunit,

Për shumicën e njerëzve fjalori i kuptuar (comprehension vocabulary) është më i madh sesa fjalori aktiv (spoken vocabulary). Prandaj e ke më të lehtë të shpjegosh çdo të thotë "going overboard" sesa të të kujtohet ta përdorësh kur ke një rast për ta përdorur shprehjen.

Diferenca midis dy fjalorëve personalë (personal vocabulary) zvogëlohet kur të dy fjalorët vijnë në rritje. Kur kam bërë provë veten herën e parë, kisha lexuar më pak se 40 libra anglisht dhe doli që kuptoja rreth 10 mijë fjalë, po përdorja më pak se 3,000 - fjalori aktiv ishte vetëm 30%.

Që të rritësh përqindjen, nuk ke ç'bën tjetër veçse të lexosh në gjuhën që ke dëshirë të mësosh. Duke e zgjeruar fjalorin e kuptuar me fjalë që i mëson nga konteksti dhe i sheh të përdorura në rrethana të ndryshme, zgjeron edhe atë të folur.

Mos u mërzit se nuk të ndodh vetëm ty. "Practice makes perfect"

Situata përmirësohet kur fillon edhe të mendosh në gjuhën tjetër (ka ca shkrues në forum që e quajnë mangësi shqiptarizmi këtë punën e mendimit në gjuhë tjetër; mos ua vër re).

Edhe që mos të na kritikojnë për atë thënien anglisht më sipër - përkthimi është: Përsëritja është mëma e dijes.

Kjo qe thua Darien eshte shume e vertet por nuk eshte gjithmone rasti i tille.

Nje person me siper permendi faktin qe nuk i kujtohej fjala nun. Une kam patur raste qe per momentin nuk me jane kujtuar fjalet me te thjeshta, fjale nga fjalori i perditshem. Bashkohem me ty ne lidhje me punen e Praktikes...por ajo nuk garanton 100% "recollection" (shef ..nuk e di ket shqip /pf/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

Kam pershtypjen qe gjate procesit truri ka raste qe ngrin. Pune e veshtire kjo e perkthysit

mirë që na e di dikush kimetin /pf/images/graemlins/laugh.gif në fakt nuk merrem më me përkthime, po e kam bërë dikur edhe përkthim të njëkohshëm (kur përkthyesi flet njëkohësisht me atë që po flet në gjuhën origjinale [simultaneous interpreting] - folësi vazhdon për hesap të vet, ti duhet të mbash ritmin e tij dhe mos të mbetesh pas)

prandaj po ju them për gjithë përkthyesit e tjerë - kur i dëgjoni që përkthejnë mund t'ju duket e lehtë, po mos u vini shumë faj po bënë ndonjë gabim /pf/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Truri i njerezve te ndryshem eshte i ndertuar ndryshe prandaj secili ka eksperienca te ndrysheme me gjuhet. Ka njerez qe flasin 20 apo me shume gjuhe te ndryshme, ndersa ka te tjere qe nuk do te mundnin kurre te flisnin rrjedhshem ne nje gjuhe te huaj.

Sa per punen e te folurit nuk me duket se keni ndonje arsye per tu shqetesuar. Anglishtfolesi tipik perdor rreth 2500 fjale ne biseda dhe jo me shume. Me kete kuptoj njerzit qe nuk e kane mesuar anglishten si gjuhe te huaj por ata qe e kane gjuhen e nenes.
Nuk mund te pretendosh te mbash mend te gjitha fjalet qe di, truri ben vete nje perzgjedhje, pastaj ka fjale qe jane vertet te veshtira per tu mbajtur mend. Kujtohuni se sa te tilla (qe perdornin gjysherit tane) ne nuk i mbajme mend fare, ama kur i degjojme, i kuptojme.

Me ndodhi qe ne klasen e English Composition ne kolegj te isha me i miri ne klase edhe pse nuk kisha shume kohe qe kisha mberritur ne Amerike dhe kisha ende aksent te dallueshem. Ama ne leximin e shekspirit isha i vetmi qe nuk caloja dhe kur profesori (nje qyfyre Anglez) me degjoi te flisja Shqip me nje shok, me tha, "Mos te degjoj ate gjuhe barbare ne klasen time". Ai ma tha me shaka dhe nuk ia mora per ters, ndoshta nga bezdia qe i shkaktonte fakti se nxenesi me i mire ishte nje i huaj. "Dumb Yankees", edhe kete e tha dikur vecmas te tjereve.

I will tell u a funny story.
I finished high school in california and the first day in senior year we were suppose to write an essay. my mind went totally blanck and guess what i did. i wrote that essay in english shqip and italian. My professor started laughing when she was reading mine and she called my name and said: I got the english part but the rest is for you to translate it cuz i didn't get anything what u said.

it needs only practise. when i first came in usa i use to make mistakes and i told my friends please tell me if i did any mistake cuz i don't wanna learn it in the wrong way. i have been here long time 24/7 iam speaking only english for the past 6 years. Like darien said needs only practise sometimes u get tired of speaking other languages. At my job once i yelled at one of my employes in albanian and i didn't realize. After that i started laughing. Don't worry u just focus on your studyings but the rest will come eventually. All i can wish you is to shinne on your classes.
