Dear Editor,
As the son of Dr. George Gallup, the founder of the Gallup Poll, I am interested in expressing the views of our family and The Gallup Organization on the recent counterfeit public opinion polls that have been released in Albania by Mjaft.
I view the fraudulent polls that have been released as a great travesty committed against the Albanian people. The Albanian people deserve an impartial and unbiased view of the political and economic state of Albania as they approach election day.
Using the famous Gallup name for political and commercial gain should be viewed as criminal. It is unfortunate that the people of Albania are being duped by a counterfeit poll bearing my family name.
We have never granted or authorized the use of our name to any organization in the Balkan region. A group of Bulgarians have sought to prosper off our name and we have been forced to file legal actions against this group.
In the 70 years of the Gallup Poll, we have never worked for special interest groups or political parties and we would never consider being involved with a group like Mjaft.
